What boring students for such a lucid and gripping lecturer!!!! Thank you for sharing this video, it has produced me something of a quietness in my struggle with English accent!!!

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I also thought her lecture is peppered with rather useful insights. Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for sharing Nacho!. First video has also comforted me but Rachel's has put me off...I don't think I'll ever be able to understand American English...

Has she? I quite like her approach to pronunciation, intonation and rhythm. She’s thorough and very precise. Stick with it, Rafa!
By the way, guys. If there are clips or YouTube channels you can think of that deal with this, you’re more than welcome to share here!

Sorry. I meant stick with it, Lola. I reckon if you work with her videos for a while you will get better at understanding it and maybe even at impersonating American actors you like. At any rate, what she calls Ben Franklin exercises can be a useful tool to study other accents too.

Interesting stuff, Rafa. Hardtalk tends to deliver the goods. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the questions raised in the conversation were featured heavily in the September exam and exams to come. At least, the will. Some of the issues were also discussed by Professor Shoshana Zuboff in that clip we worked on.

Her videos hooked me from the start. She is great. I meant that I am the one who drag a problem with American English hahaha

Rafa Morales said...

Lola, maybe Trump has to do with your problem, jjjajajajajaj

Oh, I see, Lola. American English can be challenging at times. It does take a while to get one’s head round some of the reductions and changes she discusses but they’re the bread and butter of spoken AmE. Once you get them and practise them for a while, you’ll be fine.
